Maternity clothes in store in DC? (2025)

Anonymous

Has anyone seen any maternity clothes in a brick and mortar store in DC in the last year? If so, where??

I need to buy some maternity clothes this weekend, and I'd really prefer to shop in store (I'm fully vaccinated now, and need to get out of the house!) I'm in the district, without a car. There are loads of old threads on this, but for every "oh, I got maternity stuff at this particular H&M!" there's a follow up comment of "oh, they don't carry maternity in store anymore" so I'm really looking for recent info.

I'm going to do some calls this afternoon, but figured people here might know and save me the trouble.

Sorry, nowhere I can think of in DC. Can you go to VA? The Target in Alexandria on Jefferson Davis Highway and the Skyline one on King St both sell maternity clothes. There's also Bellies and Babies consignment shop in Del Ray that has a good selection of maternity stuff.

PP here. Must be the lack of sleep with a newborn but I completely missed where you said you don't have a car! Try calling Macy's and ask before you trek out there. Some have a maternity section and some don't. Pentagon City is metro accessible and there's the one in Metro Center. I bought most of my stuff online or at those Target stores I mentioned. Good luck!

Target in Columbia Heights has a small selection on the second floor, near the baby clothes. I’d recommend going to a Target in MD or VA though, they always have more inventory than the Targets in DC.

The Macy's at Tyson's Corner had stuff in 2019 -- I haven't been out since COVID though, so I don't know if they still do. I hated trying to buy maternity clothing online and always trekked out there so I could try things on.

In store maternity inventory is so limited. I’d probably just shop online for it and go out shopping at boutiques with cute home items, jewelry, etc.

The dressing rooms in many stores are closed due to Covid, so online shopping may be your best bet anyhow.

OP here. So I called a ton of places, basically everywhere downtown - and none of them carry maternity clothes! Macy’s, both H & Ms, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Nordstrom Rack, Loft, Gap, Old Navy. None.

Only exception was the Columbia Heights Target. They do have maternity.

Just following up if someone else stumbles across this thread.

When I was pregnant a couple years ago, I went to a very small Motherhood Maternity section in the Macy’s near Metro Center. It was in its own little corner - nothing special/fancy, but I was able to try on some bras, which I desperately needed at the time! Not sure if it’s still there, though.

I ordered most of my maternity stuff from ThredUp.

Just a heads up before you trek out to Target that the one in Potomac Yards does carry maternity BUT the fitting rooms are closed. I wanted to try on something the other day and had to buy multiple, try on at home and then return. Would hate to have to trek out there only to be disappointed.

There’s a Pea in the Pod at Montgomery Mall.

Fitting rooms were also closed at my last local target (west coast) so May be a nationwide policy.

Do you have local friends you can borrow from? That might be the easiest way to get some items in a hurry.

OP here. Nope, it closed.
